The Technical Project Manager will work closely with the development/engineering team, digital producers, UX designers, and internal customers to scope, design and build websites and functionality for Fred Hutch’s digital communication and fundraising platforms. The role owns multi-stream work management for a team of Fred Hutch developers/engineers. The position is on the UX, Design & Web Development team that includes 20+ team members within Fred Hutch’s Marketing & Communications department.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Partner closely with UX designers and digital producers to understand new development features, enhancements and bugs/issues
  • Translate requirements to developers/engineers to properly scope, estimate and point each effort
  • Lead Agile/Scrum development process including sprint greening, pointing, planning & backlog meetings
  • Participate in the complete project lifecycle process from estimation to execution (strategy, inception, development, quality assurance and delivery)
  • Prepare reports for Fred Hutch leadership regarding project status, risks, milestones, team velocity / burn and relevant next steps
  • Create and maintain weekly updates for project team to accurately track team performance (wins, asks, risks, dependencies, learnings)
  • Effectively communicate and set expectations, develop process-related documentation, manage personal workload and work seamlessly with all levels of stakeholders
  • Anticipate issues, complications and risks and work with implementation teams on risk mitigation and escalations to avoid setbacks
  • Act as the developer/engineer main point of contact for disseminating information as needed
  • Analyze changes in user stories to support the development process and communicate established expectations to all necessary stakeholders
  • Manage multiple concurrent workstreams and assign work priority in partnership with the UX, Design & Development team leadership
  • Assume responsibility and work with developers to drive issue investigation and resolution
  • When outsourcing, participate in vendor selection process and manage against deliverables including SOWs, change management and approval of final deliverables
  • Participate in regular process review and improvement initiatives

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years IT project management experience.
  • Experience with project management tools, methodologies, and best practices.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of program/project management or technical project management experience in a technology-oriented organization.
  • 5+ years’ experience implementing technology using Agile/SCRUM methodology.
  • Proven track record of successfully launching websites and/or web-based applications and functionalities.
  • Technically savvy and able to ramp up on new technologies quickly.
  • Prior experience with a content management system (AEM experience a plus).
  • Prior experience with a work flow tool (Jira experience a plus).
  • Strong ability to collaborate and prioritize work across multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience working with local as well as geographically distributed team members and/or multi-vendor environments.

The annual base salary range for this position is from $99,486 to $157,227, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications. This position is not eligible for H-1B sponsorship at this time.
