**Sheet Metal Installer - San Diego, CA - Career Opportunity** **Job Description** We are seeking a skilled Sheet Metal Installer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation and construction of bulkheads, ceiling panels, doors, windows, rails, and other related activities. This role involves working with large sheet metal pieces and components aboard Navy ships, requiring precision and adherence to Navy standards. **Responsibilities** + Install and assemble large sheet metal pieces, valves, bulkheads, and other components. + Assist in the installation of insulation in compartment floors, ceilings, and walls. + Work with Tac welding and place sheet-metal pieces before full welding. + Read and interpret blueprints to ensure compliance with Navy standards. + Fabricate, assemble, modify, and repair various sheet metal products such as shipboard ventilation systems and custom parts. + Operate machine tools like press brakes, shears, punches, and rollers. + Utilize hand tools such as grinders, drills, and rivet guns to meet specifications. + Verify conformance of fabricated items to blueprint specifications. **Essential Skills** + Installation and assembly of sheet metal components. + Ability to read and interpret blueprints. + 3+ years of marine experience. + Knowledge of shipyard, HVAC, and ventilation systems. + Experience with sheet metal fabrication and installation. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Previous experience aboard a CVN Class Navy ship preferred. + Experience with shipboard installation/repair. + Knowledge of shop mathematics and principles. **Work Environment** + Work is conducted at various shipyard facilities in San Diego, CA, including Nassco, BAE, CMSD, North Island, and the Naval Base on 32nd street. The role demands adherence to safety standards and may involve working in physically demanding conditions. Dress code is aligned with safety requirements. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
