Job Description

About High Scale

We’re High Scale — a future-focused, data-obsessed agency revolutionizing video advertising on TV and social media. Think Amazon’s obsession with customer experience meets SpaceX’s fearless ambition—that’s the DNA behind everything we do.

Our 120-person team of creatives, strategists, and innovators produces thousands of high-impact campaigns weekly for the world’s leading lifestyle, fashion, beauty, and DTC brands. With 50,000 sq. ft. of DTLA studios and a global influencer network, we’re ready to 10x our output in 2025—and we need an Art Director who can set the visual standard and lead our creative teams to produce world-class, high-performance content.

Why This Role Matters

Visual strategy, trend-setting creative, and brand elevation are your playground. As the Art Director, you are the chief visual architect, the bridge between data-driven strategy and stunning creative execution. You'll lead and mentor a team of creatives (editors, 3D artists, designers), setting the aesthetic bar and ensuring every frame is optimized for performance.

Your work will directly impact our clients' brand perception, our campaign effectiveness, and our reputation as the industry leader. If you thrive on building visual worlds and scaling world-class creative, this is your launchpad.

What You’ll Do

  1. Lead Visual Strategy & Concepting
    • Develop and pitch breakthrough creative concepts and visual directions for high-performance video campaigns.

    • Translate client briefs and data insights into compelling visual strategies for social media (TikTok, Meta) and TV.

    • Create mood boards, storyboards, and style guides that inspire and direct the creative team.

  2. Drive Creative Excellence & Quality
    • Lead and mentor a team of editors, 3D artists, and motion designers, providing clear, constructive feedback.

    • Review and approve creative assets at all stages, ensuring all content is on-brand, high-impact, and meets our quality standards.

    • Oversee projects from concept to completion, ensuring visual consistency.

  3. Collaborate with Strategy & Production
    • Work closely with strategists to understand performance data and audience insights, using them to fuel smarter creative decisions.

    • Partner with producers to ensure ambitious visual concepts are achievable within budget and timeline constraints.

  4. Innovate & Scale Visuals
    • Stay ahead of the curve on platform trends, new formats, design techniques, and competitor activity.

    • Help develop and refine creative systems, templates, and workflows that allow us to scale quality at high velocity.

Who You Are

  1. A Proven Creative Leader
    • 5–8+ years of experience in art direction or a senior creative role, preferably at a fast-paced agency or DTC brand.

    • A stunning portfolio showcasing high-performance video campaigns (social & TV) and strong conceptual thinking.

  2. A Strategic & Systematic Thinker
    • You're not just a visualist; you're a problem-solver who understands how creative drives business results.

    • Skilled at building repeatable creative systems and managing multiple projects and deadlines.

  3. A Master Communicator & Mentor
    • Clear, confident, and persuasive in presenting and "selling" creative ideas to clients and internal teams.

    • A natural leader who can inspire, mentor, and elevate the skills of other creatives.

  4. Collaborative & Trend-Obsessed
    • Thrive in fast-paced, high-growth environments and can adapt creative to any brand or platform.

    • A native of social media culture; you know what works on TikTok, Meta, and YouTube.

  5. Data-Informed (Not Data-Ruled)
    • You use KPIs and performance data as a tool to make creative smarter , not safer .

    • Comfortable discussing performance and using insights to fuel your next big idea.

Perks & Benefits

  • Growth Opportunities: Influence the growth of High Scale and scale top-tier campaigns for global brands.

  • Relentless Innovation Culture: Move fast, test constantly, and collaborate with some of the most creative minds in social media and video production.

High Scale is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We celebrate diversity and believe it’s key to building teams that change the world—one breakthrough campaign at a time.
