The successful candidate should be detail-oriented, possess strong time management skills, excellent oral and written communication, an ability to track and execute multiple tasks simultaneously and maintain a high degree of confidentiality. DUTIES:
  • Conduct research, review and prepare reports to the warden and agency staff on internal and external matters.
  • Prepare correspondence for signature of warden.
  • Assist with programs: providing direct supervision during various programs; coordinate with volunteers and program staff to schedule classes and spaces; program specific class preparation, registration, and tracking.
  • Preparation of the warden's monthly report.
  • Process and investigate incarcerated individual to incarcerated individual correspondence requests and complete recommendation for the Warden.
  • Schedule and process statements of charges.
  • Process step-one grievances.
  • Assist with incarcerate individual incentive program as needed.
  • Investigate and process TORT claims.
  • Order supplies for the administrative area.
  • Represent the facility on agency committees.
  • Schedule and conduct facility tours.
  • REQUIREMENTS: Associate degree in public or business administration, accounting, or any discipline related to the work assigned. One year of experience in administrative, business management or technical support work including collecting and interpreting statistical, financial, program, or administrative data; or interpreting laws, rules, regulations, and processes. Experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis. PREFERRED: Minimum 2 years of experience in a correctional environment. OTHER: Applicants accepting a job offer must pass the following pre-employment exams in this order: medical exam, and at a randomly announced time, pass a drug test. Once at the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully paid NE Corrections Training Program. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. Must be able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks. Must have excellent organizational, team and communication skills. Must be able to lift 25 pounds. Knowledge of: administration and management principles and practices; research and administrative survey techniques; business computer and communication systems; work planning and organizing; federal and State laws and regulations; Ability to: communicate in person, and by telephone, computer, email, and correspondence to exchange information and ideas and to promote agency needs, plans, and objectives; interpret program administrative requirements, policies, regulations, and other guidelines; interact with immediate supervisor and managers/employees of the employing agency, other governmental and organization representatives, and the public, to gain their cooperation and establish work relationships; conduct research activities and summarize technical data and conclusions into reports; study problem areas, analyze relevant data, and formulate alternative courses of action; interpret and apply directives and instructions pertinent to assigned work; apply management practices, theories, techniques and methodologies; learn the goals, policies, and operations of the employing agency related to assigned work.
